The Ekiti State Police Command disclosed
that it has arrested a man in possession of human parts.
The suspects, simply identified as Nifemi (23) was
arrested by policemen at Ijero Ekiti during a ‘Stop and Search’ operation at
the weekend
According to an eyewitness, the suspect was arrested
while going to Okemesi-Ekiti with severed hands of a human being.
The arrest followed police beef up of security
across the Ijero Local Government areas after receiving tip-off that bandits
were planning to strike in the area.
According to a police source; “The young man concealed
the human parts in a polythene bag. He was arrested along Ijero-Ikoro road
while going to Okemesi to sell to customers. When he was quizzed by the police,
he said that he got the two hands at Asa farmstead near Okemesi and brought it
to Ijero. He told the police that he wanted to take the human parts to Okemesi
to sell.”
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Caleb Ikechukwu, confirmed the
arrest.
Ikechukwu said that investigation has started and
moves were already on to arrest other members of the syndicate.
Ikechukwu added: "Our men arrested him during
one of our operations. We’re gathering more facts about the case. We’re aware
he has been operating with some people; those people will also be brought to
book.”
