The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected robbers, who allegedly specialized in terrorizing residents of Lekki/Ajah area of the metropolis.
The suspects, Adebayo Ayomide and Isaac David, were arrested right after they robbed two residents in the area.
The suspects were arrested by a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Maroko Police Station, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Isah Abdulmajid, during a patrol along Lekki- Ikoyi link Bridge at about 9p.m. on March 9,
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bala Elkana, said that in the course of the police duty, policemen came in contact with two young women, Gbemi and Hannah, who appeared to be in distress.
Upon questioning them, the women told the policemen that they had just been dispossessed of their phones by the suspects at gunpoint.
Elkana said: "The two women pointed to the direction in which the bandits had escaped. They escaped on a motorcycle. The police team immediately went after them. The suspects were tracked down and arrested. Upon searching them, their operational single-barrel gun, a cutlass and a phone were found on them. The items were recovered and the suspects taken into custody.”
The suspects, during confession, admitted to belonging to a syndicate terrorising Lekki and its environs.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, directed that the case be transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigations.
The CP, however, reassured residents of the command's commitment to securing lives and property in every part of the state. Muazu warned criminal-minded individuals to either change their ways or face the full weight of the law.
