Deputy Force PRO, Frank Mba

Police have arraigned seven suspects before the Federal High Court, Abuja for robbing three banks and bombing a police station in Bauchi State.
The suspects, arraigned on a 13-count charge under the Terrorism Prevention Act, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2011, allegedly bombed and robbed the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Alkalari branch in Bauchi State, on July 8, 2011.
The suspects – Usman  Sani; Abdulrahman Musa; Mahmud Mohammed;  Kabir Mohammed; Umar Danjuma; Ibrahim Musa Abba  and  Abdullahi Lawan – allegedly stole N17,830,136 from the bank.
A statement by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, in Abuja on Thursday, said the suspects arraigned on Wednesday, also bombed Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters.
The suspects also allegedly attacked Intercontinental Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank, in Azare and stole N36, 446, 750.
The charge showed that the suspects in different operations killed four persons, including three Police officers. They were charged with possessing assorted dangerous arms and explosive materials.
The suspects, however, could not enter their plea, as they had no counsel, a situation that made the court to adjourn the case to April 10.
Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation, Women Friendly Initiative, has conducted a workshop on crime prevention for six communities in Kuje, Abuja as part of its crime-free community initiative.
Addressing the participants from Pegi, Gaube, Kiyi, Chukuku, Robochi and Kuje communities, the group’s programme officer, Mrs. Frances Eremutha, said crime prevention was everyone’s responsibility.
She advised them to support security agencies by giving useful information anytime they observed a crime or suspicious movement or activities that could lead to a breach of peace.
“The workshop was to sensitise the people about their roles in crime prevention  and how they can collaborate with security agencies, especially policemen and State Security Service to nip crime in the bud,” Eremutha added.
