Man shot dead in wife’s presence

A man popularly called More Blessing was shot dead by a yetto- be identified assailant on Saturday night while resting in his room in the presence of his wife and their only child, a two-month old baby boy named Daniel. The man, who resided at 24, Branco Street, Mafoluku-Oshodi, Lagos, was murdered around 9pm.

One of the residents, a young lady who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they were alarmed by the gunshot while they were in their rooms.
She said: “I was in the room last night (Saturday night), just like most of other tenants. We just had a loud bang which terrified us. When we came out later, we discovered that it was from the room of the deceased. The man who we normally called More Blessing was shot dead. “We didn’t see anyone. But his wife told us that somebody just came in, shot her husband and ran away.
Nobody could tell who actually the assailant was as people were so terrified to come out immediately.” The lady said the landlord and the neighbours went to report the incident at Makinde Police Station, Oshodi. The body was later taken away by police around 1am.
The widow, addressed as Mama Daniel, was not around for her account. It was learnt that she had been taken to the police station for questioning. At Makinde police station, a police officer simply confirmed that a murder incident actually happened.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ngozi Braide, could not be reached for comment as her lines were switched off.
