Suspected ritualists pluck eyes of 12-yr-old Almajiri in Bauchi

THE Bauchi State Police Command on Tuesady informed that some unknown assailants attacked and removed the eyes of a 12-year-old Almajiri, one Abdu Garba.
According to a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Bauchi, on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, one Mallam Haruna Abdullahi of Sakwa in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State had reported at the police station recently that Garba, who hailed from Miga Local Government Area of Jigawa State was attacked by some unknown assailants and removed his two eyes.

Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated the DPO in charge of Zaki division of the Nigerian Police Force led detectives to the scene of the crime and rushed the pupil to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, for treatment.
“On the 1/06/2014 at about 12:27hrs, we received a report from one Mallam Haruna Abdullahi m’ of Sakwa Town in Zaki Local Government Area that his 12-year-old pupil, one Abdu Garba, native of Miga Local Government Area of Jigawa State was attacked by unknown assailants suspected to be ritualists and removed two of his eyes.
“Police detectives led by DPO Zaki Division visited the scene and rushed the victim to Federal Medical Centre, Azare, for treatment,” the PPRO said in the statement.
He, however, assured that the police had commenced investigation into the matter and were also making efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
