Woman alleges threat to life after uncle’s murder

A relation of the All Progressive Congress (APC), member who was killed on September, 20, 2014, at the Isale-Eko area of Lagos Island, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 2, Mr. Umar Manko to save her life.

The woman, Mrs. Wuraola Williams, 43, niece to the late National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) boss in Lagos Island, Azeez Otun alias Ashake, alleged in her petition that some hoodlums were bent on snuffing out her life.
In the petition, Williams, said she had received incessant threats to her life and believed the threats were coming from the same gang that assassinated her uncle.
Williams, in the petition dated October 2, 2014, added that she escaped death by a whisker after some assailants visited her house in the night of the same Saturday that her uncle was killed.
Williams, who managed to escape from the scene, reported the matter at the Adeniji Adele Police Station. She however claimed that after leaving the station, some of the assailants trailed her with guns, but she once again, escaped.
Williams revealed that she and her family members had abandoned their home at Isale-Eko since the fateful Saturday because of the threats of the hoodlums.
The petitioner states: “I have not stepped into my apartment till this period. My property is in an unsecured environment. I cannot take anything there because my life is in danger. The lives of my family too are also in danger. I want the police to arrest these culprits and bring them to book.
“As provided by the constitution, my right to life is being threatened by unscrupulous elements, and my freedom of movement with my family has also been restricted.”
Williams gave the names of her assailants simply as Olokodana, Abass, Atebo among others.
She also said since the interview she granted the New Telegraph newspaper about the attack on her late uncle, she had been receiving strange calls, with the callers threatening to kill her and her entire family members.
“I appealed to the AIG Zone 2, Mr. Umar Manko to provide me and my family security and give the petition a speedy investigation,” she further states.
