Officials of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit have arrested a man who allegedly specialises in selling pornographic and offensive materials in public places. The government had earlier warned against the selling of offensive materials in public, especially at motor parks. The arrest of the suspect, Kelechi Emeri, 32, was sequel to a publication in one of the dailies of a booming pornographic market at Obalende Motor Park.
It was gathered that Emeri, who hails from Abia State, was nabbed at Obalende Motor Park where he was selling the offensive materials. He was arrested when a task force official pretended as prospective buyer and demanded four pornographic materials to ascertain if he was actually the seller. After his arrest, Emeri confessed that he was selling pornographic DVDs to the public. According to him, he usually sells 10 of such DVDs daily.
The suspect, however, denied ownership of the large quantities of pornographic materials displayed at the park. He said: “I do sell pornographic materials, but I don’t display them for the public to see. This is not the first time the police have come here to disturb us. They have warned us that if we must sell, we should not displace them. I always put them inside my bag. “It is my neighbour who owns the ones that are on display. They are not mine. I used to sell my own N100 per copy and I used to buy them from Alaba and Idumota. “I normally sell around 10 DVDs in a day. I know it is bad to sell them. I wanted to stop the business but people always ask for them.”http://newtelegraphonline.com/task-force-seizes-pornographic-materials-at-motor-park/
