PDP\APC clash: One killed, 10 injured in Lagos

Tension rekindled at the Isale-Eko surburb in Lagos State on Monday after hoodlums in the area stabbed a man to death and injured several others.
The clash is believed to be between members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was gathered that the deceased, identified as Sikiru Alaran a vulcanizer was working in his workshop around 8pm, when his assailants attacked and stabbed him on the neck. Alaran’s injured friend has been identified as Paul.

It was also gathered that aside from Paul, over 10 people were seriously injured as the hoodlums went on the rampage. The incident occurred at the entrance of Moboreje Market, where the victim was working as a vulcanizer.
Witnesses in the market said that the hoodlums, over 20 stormed the market with dangerous weapon, threatening traders and passers-by.
The witnesses believed that the killing of the deceased was premeditated.
A witness who refused to disclose his name, said: “I was outside the entrance of the market, when I saw people rushing back into the market. Before I could get up from where I was sitting, I saw them attacking the vulcanizer man.”
Immediately after the hoodlums carried out the act, they disappeared, while sympathisers rushed to assist the wounded man. Sulaimon, a trader said: “We’re tired of this crisis! Each time the hoodlums fight, it always affects our businesses.
These boys always converge at Pelewura Market, close to where the vulcanizer was killed. When we walk on the road at night, we’re not safe! They rob people of their phones and snatch bags.”
One of the deceased’s friends, Kunle Abiodun, said he was inside his shop when someone called him on the phone that his friend had been stabbed.
“When I got to the scene, he was still on the ground. I and some people rushed him to a private hospital on the Island. He was pronounced dead by the doctor.”
When our correspondent visited the hospital, the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that some of the injured people, rushed into the hospital, while trying to escape from the hoodlums. He said: “I’ve asked the family of those injured to come forward and take them away.
I don’t want to have another corpse in my hospital.” Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and OPMESA were stationed at different junctions to maintain law and order.
It would be recalled that on September, 20, the leader of APC on Lagos Island, Ashake Azeez, was allegedly shot dead by some suspected members of the opposition party, immediately President Goodluck Jonathan who visited area left
