Two-day-old baby abandoned
The Ekiti State Police Command has recovered an abandoned two-day-old baby dumped near a shop in Ado- Ekiti. The baby was discovered abandoned by a good citizen beside a shop at No 12, Olora Street, Adebayo Road, Ado-Ekiti on Sunday evening.

The citizen promptly alerted the police. Police efforts to locate the mother of the baby had not been successfully. Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, said: “Detectives rushed to the scene and found the baby. It was neatly wrapped and placed beside a generating set, beside the shop.
On closer observation, it was discovered that the umbilical cord was still intact. The baby was taken to the hospital for medical care and later handed over to the officials of the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.”
The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, urged members of the public who have any information about the mother of the baby, to contact the nearest police station or the police command.
