FOOLISH ARMED ROBBER SHARES ROBBERY PLAN WITH FAKE MEMBER, LANDS IN NET

Mr. Frank Omote is presently regretting his rashness in discussing a forth coming robbery operation with a total stranger, whom he thought was the second partner he had been expecting.
Omote was told by his partner in Osun State, Jide Onifade that the robbery operation he was about to embark could not be done alone.
He promised to send Omote a partner who would assist him in the operation. He suggested Omote wait at a designated place for the partner.
Unaware that Onifade did not succeed in recruiting a partner, Omote went to the designated venue to wait, on the appointed day.
He told Onifade he would wait at a point, close to a hotel. The schedule was after midnight.
After waiting for a while, he noticed a huge man staring at him and thinking it was the expected partner, opened a conversation with him.
He asked if he was from Onifade, the stranger replied yes. Without thinking twice, Omote started discussing how the robbery operation would be. He stranger kept affirming and interjecting.

Satisfied that they were on course, Omote took him into the hotel and bought him a drink. The stranger left to urinate and came back. Within moments of sitting down, SARS operatives stormed into the hotel and arrested Omote. An English pistol was recovered.
The stranger later told policemen that he was alerted by Omote’s fidgety manner as he waited in the darkness. When Omote asked if he was the expected partner from Osun State, he played along and discovered Omote was planning to rob Olowu Spare part shops, at Ikeja. When he left to urinate, he called police.
Detectives have since discovered that the suspect was a trader at the Olowu Market, which he planned to rob.
A police source said: “The suspect sells spare parts at Olowu Street, Ikeja. He was arrested with English made pistol and eight round of ammunition. He said he got the pistol from one Jide Onifade, residing at Osun State. After his arrest, police asked him to call Onifade. He called Onifade, telling him that he had met with the partner he promised to send him for the operation, but Onifade replied that he did not send anyone, because he was yet to find anyone willing to join in the operation. Since then, Onifade escaped. Police are still hunting for him.”
While the search is on for Onifade, police have discovered that he is a cocoa dealer and gave the pistol to Omote.
Investigation also revealed that Omote, after serving his master as an apprentice in spare parts trading at Olowu Market, was established by his master.
He rented a shop and soon started nursing the idea to travel to China. He wanted more business. A friend promised to help facilitated his traveling documents to China. The friend collected N1.5million from Omote and disappeared. Omote business fell from grace to grass.
He ran into another friend, who took him to Onifade. The idea was for Onifade to take him to herbalist who would assist in knowing why he was not making it financially.
One thing led to another and the suspect started squatting with Onifade. Onifade was also feeding him.
One day, Onifade sold the idea of robbery to him and asked if he had the gut to do it. Omote replied in the affirmative.
To show how committed he was to the crime, Omote told Onifade that Olowu Spare part Market was a pot of gold for any robber. He said he knew all the shops were the owners used to keep money.
“Onifade gave him the pistol and asked him to monitor the activities in the market. Onifade said he would come on Friday, so that they would embark on operation on Saturday night. Onifade also promised to first send somebody to join him,” said another police source.
While Omote was waiting at Olowu Junction, close to Corner-Rest Hotel, he noticed the stranger, staring at him.
Our correspondent got in touch with the Police Spokesman, Mr. Kenneth Nwosu through a text message on Wednesday, to confirm the arrest and present situation of the case concerning the suspect, but as at press time, he had not replied.
