Suspected killers of Colonel Samaila Inusa, who was murdered on
Abuja-Kaduna Expressway three months ago, said they were after the
officer’s car and not his life.
The suspects, being detained at the
Kaduna State Police Command Headquarters, were paraded yesterday by the
Police Commissioner, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim.
This came as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur
Buratai, has applauded the Inspector- General of Police (IG), Solomon
Arase, and his teams of crack detectives on the arrest of Inusa’s
suspected killers. Buratai said he was applauding the police, not just
on behalf of the Nigerian Army, but also on behalf of the families of
the late colonel.
He said: “The Nigerian Army wishes to thank the Inspector General of
Police, Mr. Solomon Arase for tracking and arresting the kidnappers and
murderers of the late Colonel Samaila Inusa of the Nigerian Army and
smashing the deadly kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate.” Speaking
with journalists, the prime suspect, Emeka Okeke (44), said they never
intended to kill Inusa but he got shot accidentally when the officer
tried to wrest the gun from them. According to him, Inusa got killed in
the process.
He said: “My group and I specialise in car-snatching, we are not
kidnappers. “One Sunday evening, we were on patrol; whenever we are on
patrol like that any car we see, we will snatch it. It was in the
process we saw Colonel Inusa’s car from Police College down to Refinery
Junction where we snatched it.http://newtelegraphonline.com/interested-col-inusas-car-suspected-killers/
