The Acting Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, has taken to his Twitter handle to warn Nigerians to be wary of some Police personnel, who ask them for customs papers or tinted glass permit, stressing that it was not the place of any policeman to do so.

According to him, Nigerians should immediately report policemen who ask them for such documents.

He tweets: “No policeman should demand your customs papers. No. Except they are on joint operation, but not just on more routine checks. And for now, we have suspended the issuance of tinted glass permit, so we don’t expect our men to disturb Nigerians on this. We are to stop any vehicle with tints, search the vehicles and their occupants, but not to delay him for not having tinted glass permits. Report them if you are so delayed so that we can ask them questions.”

Adejobi further stated that Nigerians should also take note and understand that, only three items could a policeman demand at the checkpoint or on routine patrol and these items are just vehicle and driver’s licenses and certificate of issuance.

His words: “The police do not demand allocation of number paper, it’s not necessary. All you need to have with you is the three I mentioned; vehicle licence, certificate issuance, and driver's licence.”

He added: “Any policeman demanding for more is a deviate and he must be dealt with. If not, many Nigerians will suffer from him and his likes. Don’t die in silence, speak out to save yourself and others.”
