The Kaduna State Police has rescued an underage boy, who has been in the bandit’s den for two years.

The Police spokesman, Mohammed Shehu, said that the boy was among three people rescued by the Police Tactical Operatives on March 8. The boy has been rearing animals for the bandits until his rescue by the police.

He said: “Two of the victims were abducted in their village, Tumburku in Giwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State on February 20, 2022, while the underage victim was abducted from his village in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State about two years ago, and since then subjected to rearing animals for the bandits, before he was successfully rescued by the Police. The victims were taken to the hospital where they received medical treatment before being debriefed by the Police detectives.

Shehu explained that the success came about due to the Command’s continuous search and rescue operations aimed at rescuing all kidnapped victims that are currently in captivity at various bandits' enclaves in the state.

The Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command, Ayuba Elkanah, commended the Police operatives for the successful rescue of the victims and tasked them to sustain the tempo. The CP further appreciated the state government's support and encouragement to the security operatives in the state. He assured members of the public that, the Police in collaboration with other security agencies will continue to work assiduously to ensure sustainable peace and security in the state.
