A 28-year-old man, a suspected kidnapper, identified as Jamilu Saidu, who specialised in threatening members of the public through phone calls and demanding has been arrested by Katsina Police Command.
Our reporter gathered that Saidu's modus operandi was to target a prospective victim, get the person’s phone number and then call him or her to give ransom or they would be kidnapped.
The suspect’s downfall started on February 21, after he called a prospective target, Abdulsalam Hassan, and started threatening him. Saidu allegedly threatened to kidnap Hassan if he didn’t pay him the sum of N200,000.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gambo Isah said: “Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he sent his account details to the victim to pay the ransom. In the course of the investigation, the suspect was traced and arrested. He confessed to the commission of the offense. The investigation is ongoing.”
