Why I give guns to robbers-undergraduate

CP Lagos, Umar Manko

Ahmed Adedokun is one of the people being held for attacking two banks in the Lagos State metropolis. He is an undergraduate of Tai Solarin College of Education.

While his course-mates were busy hitting their books, studying for examinations and class tests, he was busy as a bee, providing guns for bank robbers.

When the bank robbers, were arrested in an operation foiled by policemen in Lagos, their confessions led to the arrest of Adedokun.

Narrating how he met and joined the gang, Adedokun, confessed that he belonged to a cult group in his school. This was apparently where his life of crime started.

It was in the cult that he met and became friendly with one Azeez, who would later lead him into the supposed glitze and glamour of the criminal underworld.

His words: “I and Azeez belonged to cult groups in school. When he came to me at Ayeitora, that he needed a gun for operations, I had to help. As the chief custodian of the guns, I asked him what operations he wanted to use the guns for. I had to ask because I was expected to brief other members, especially our leaders about the operations. After much pressure on him, he later told me that one of his friends in Lagos State needed the gun. He promised to pay us money. It was at that point that I released the gun to him. After the operations, I was given N180, 000 as part of my own share of the loots.”
