A 49-year-old, Mr Mustapha Adesina, has been sentenced to two years
imprisonment for stealing vegetables worth N5000, by an Abeokuta
Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday.
The magistrate, Idowu Olayinka, said that Adesina was sentenced to
prison for pleading guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Augustine Ozimini, informed the court that the
accused person committed the offence on January 20, at Ita-Ika area of
Abeokuta, on one Mr Festus Adekunle’s farm.
He said,“Adesina had been going to the complainant’s farm every
Sunday to steal his vegetables and he (Adekunle) had been on the lookout
for him.
“That particular Sunday, the complainant hid in his farm waiting
patiently for the thief, who steals his vegetables and as usual,
Adesina, came.
“The complainant raised an alarm which alerted other farmers and Adesina was caught and taken to the police station.”
