FORMER governor of Kano State, Senator Kabiru Gaya on Monday, in
Abuja raised the alarm that the country was in trouble over the
assassination attempt on the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who was on
Sunday flown abroad for treatment along with two of his children over
the attack.
Senator Gaya, of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) representing
Kano South senatorial district, said that the level of insecurity in the
country was becoming alarming and counselled that all hands must be on
deck to make the country safe for all.
While condemning the attack, the former governor lamented that
incessant attacks by faceless gunmen in Kano State was impeding business
there.
“At this time that the country is wooing investors to address youth
unemployment, insecurity is becoming a clog in the wheel of progress,”
he lamented.
In a press release signed by his Special Adviser (Communication and
Strategy), Prince Idris Afegbua, Senator Gaya said that with the 1999
Constitutional review before the National Assembly, all contending
parties should sheathe the sword and support government for peaceful
co-existence and development of the country.
