Fayemi, others weep as Olayinka’s body arrives in Ado Ekiti

EKITI State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, his Chief of Staff, Mr Yemi Adaramodu and other senior members of the state government betrayed emotions on Wednesday when the body of the state deputy governor arrived at the Governor’s Office.
The body had arrived in Ekiti State via the Akure Airport in a chartered flight, after a commendation service at Anglican Church of Ascension, Opebi, Lagos.
It was accompanied by her husband, Mr Lanre Olayinka, their three daughters, Yeside, Ololade and Olamide; wife of the Ekiti State governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Ganiyu Owolabi; Head of Service, Mr Bunmi Famosaya and other top functionaries of the state government.
Governor Fayemi, who fought back tears while receiving the body, said, “we thank God for the arrival of our princess, who sacrificed herself for the service of the people.
“On behalf of good people of Ekiti State, we cannot thank her enough. She lived a short and eventful life. We thank God for giving her to us; we also thank God for taking her to the world where there would be no more worries.”
As of 2.00 p.m on Wednesday, commercial and business activities were grounded to a halt in Ado-Ekiti, as thousands of residents of the state lined the major streets to welcome the body of the late deputy governor.
By 6.15 p.m, various groups gathered at Fajuyi Park, where candle light procession took off, while some women group also had vigil at her official residence.
