Police arraigns two for fraud

The police have arraigned 35-year-old Monsuru Ajeigbe before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for obtaining money under false pretences from one Ndubuisi Eguzouwa.
The incident happened on August 28 and September 17, 2013.
Monsuru was arraigned on Wednesday on three counts bordering on fraud

The charge reads in part, “That you, Monsuru Ajeigbe, and others now at large, on the August 28, 2013 September 17, 2013, at about 1200hrs on Tomori Street, off Medical Road, Ikeja Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did fraudulently obtain the sum of N2.5m from one Ndubuisi Eguzouwa under the pretence of selling a landed property to him, a representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 312 (3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His counsel, Ali Aba, applied for his bail in liberal terms.
He said, “I apply for bail in liberal terms. The defendant is still presumed innocent according to the law.”
The magistrate, E.O. Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till October 29 for mention.
