Police arrest 31 cult members during initiation
Police in Ogun State have arrested about 31 cult members during their initiation ceremony at a hotel at Obantoko area of Abeokuta, the state capital. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that the suspects were mainly members of Eiye confraternity from different
institutions of learning in the state. He said: “Upon receiving the information about the gathering of the cult members in the hotel, policemen were immediately drafted to the hotel and they were all arrested while initiating new members.

“The suspects were arrested by the police after some members of the public hinted us about the gathering and initiation of the cult members at the hotel in Obantoko.” The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikemefuna Okoye, according to the statement, gave kudos to members of the public for the timely information given which led to the arrest of the suspects. “The Ogun State Police Command will never rest in the effort to ensure the mission of the new Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, is achieved. “The fight against crime should not be left in the hands of the police alone.
It is a collective effort of every one. We commend the efforts of the general public who provided us with useful information,” Okoye was quoted as saying. The suspects are identified as Wanda Philips, Babatunde Akanni, Osas Ehonwa, Shina Dauda, Idowu Adegoke, Gafh Dauda, Oladimeji Toheeb, Asekan Oluwatobi, Lekan Waliu, Lawal Rasak, Muse Obafemi, Oladegun Toyin and Taofeek Olaitan.
Others include Olumide Adesokan, Damilola Adekolu, Itunu Abiola, Ganiu Folashade, Kazeem Adegunle, Olude Olamide, Felix Friday, Sodiq Olalekan, Tunde Lateef and Jimoh Jelili. Others are Ayub Ishaq, Raji Tiyosi, Oguntoyinbo Oluwafemi, Opeloyeru Oludare, Lawal Oludare and Adekunle Seun.
