A police source said that the woman police and other commuter were waiting to board commercial bus when the suspects appeared
from nowhere and started collecting their valuables at gunpoint.
The source added that commuters were often robbed at that spot.
It was gathered that on the day the woman police was
robbed, a distress call was sent to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO),
in charge of Layeni Police Station, a Chief Superintendent of Police
(CSP), Mr. Chijioke Ndu.
The DPO had quickly drafted a team of policemen and raced to the scene.
A police constable at Layeni Police Station said that the hoodlums were robbing people freely when Ndu moved in with a team of police men.
He said the hoodlums on sighting the policemen, attempted to escape, but two among the lot were arrested. Others escaped.
He added that police detectives attached to the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, during the weekend, came to pick the suspects and move to SARS office, for further investigation.
