The President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, yesterday, said
burglars broke into his country home in Ilorin, Kwara State, and carted
away N12 million.
The incident, which occurred two weeks ago, has since
been reported to the Kwara State Police Command and investigations have
commenced.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and
Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, a report published by an online media on
the issue insinuating that Saraki’s domestic aides were responsible for
the theft was untrue and misleading, adding that the perpetrators were
yet to be identified. Olaniyonu also said the amount of money stolen was
N12 million and not N300 million as reported by the said online media.
In the statement made available to the media, Olaniyonu explained
that the unknown persons broke into the safe in the Administrative
Office , stressing that the incident did not take place in Saraki’s room
as claimed in some online news platforms.
He took exception to the insinuations that the stolen money belonged
to the Kwara State Government, stressing that the money has nothing to
do with Kwara State Government.http://newtelegraphonline.com/burglars-storm-sarakis-office-cart-away-n12m/
