Five JAMB officials lose positions, others face demotion

Adamu
Following their indictment in the various irregularities that characterised the conduct of 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), five state and zonal coordinators of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been relieved of their positions.

New Telegraph gathered that the Disciplinary Committee set up by management of the Board to probe the involvement of 15 state and zonal coordinators before and during the conduct of UTME in March recommended that the five affected coordinators should be transferred from their respective states and zones. Some of the officials who are still facing the panel risk demotion.
The committee held that the officials failed to coordinate their respective states and zones well, which led to hitches and protests during and after the examination. Part of the responsibilities of state and zonal coordinators was to examine and accredit centres for the conduct of the examination.
But many of them failed in this responsibility before the last UTME as centres they certified okay and accredited as having all necessary requirements for the conduct of the examination later proved contrary.
