Body of an Igbo businesswoman, Charity Aba, who was kidnapped on
Tuesday night, was found yesterday near Enugu Road roundabout at Eupi in
Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
It was learnt that the body of the woman, who was selling mostly cooking utensils, was discovered in the early hours of yesterday when worshippers were going to the church for the first Sunday Mass.
The passers-by raised the alarm which attracted the attention of neighbours and security operatives. Aba’s killing came just as five suspected kidnappers terrorising residents of Ugbokolo town in Okpokwu Local Government Area were arrested at the weekend by the police.
Already, a pan-Idoma group has condemned the rising crime in Otukpo and other parts of the state in recent times and called on security agencies to rise to their responsibilities. The Secretary-General of the group, Mr. Adoka Adaji, in a reaction to Aba’s killing, condoled with her family and appealed to Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration to intensify efforts at minimising crime in the state.
He said: “Members of Opiatoha K’Idoma condemn in strong terms the killing of Mrs. Charity Aba who was kidnapped on Tuesday night in Otukpo. It is high time security agencies stepped up their operations to nip the rising crime in Idoma land in the bud.”
Adaji also decried the continued captivity of the Vicar General of Otukpo Catholic Diocese, Rev. John Adeyi, and admonished those providing safe haven for criminals to desist forthwith.http://newtelegraphonline.com/kidnapped-womans-body-found-benue/
