The COAS recently inaugurated the complex while on a familiarisation visit to 81 Division.
The Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai Sports Complex consists of basketball court and a 120-seat pavilion. Other facilities are barracks’ youth office and a meeting hall. Also, the Physical Training Wing was re-structured to give it a face-lift.
The Commander, 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Bulama Biu, had earlier informed the COAS that 9 Brigade lacked basic sporting facilities to enable troops to train and keep fit. Biu explained that for the Brigade to key-in into Buratai’s vision, the brigade decided to embark on the construction of the sports complex through self-help efforts.
The Chief of Army Staff expressed gratitude to the Commander 9 Brigade for his initiative and steadfastness to have put in place standard training facilities to enable the personnel to keep fit.
