Policemen attached to the Lagos State Command, have arrested 80
suspected hoodlums during a midnight raid at some hideouts at Badia East
community, Apapa- Iganmu area.
Nine unregistered motorcycles, suspected to have been stolen and converted to use for various criminal activities, were recovered during the exercise last Thursday.
The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Badia Police State, Kayode Ayeni, a combined police operatives drawn from the division, Mobile unit, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Anti-Terrorists Squad, task force, Criminal Intelligence Bureau, ‘B’ Ops Department and Area ‘B’ Police Command, Apapa.
The policemen stormed the criminal hideouts behind Oke Ilueri community, white-sand and Bola Ahmed Tinubu Tankers Parking Terminal on the National Art Theatre axis of Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Policemen stormed the area around 11pm and operated till 6am the following day.
It was gathered that the raid followed complaints by victims who had been dispossessed of valuables by hoodlums. Several victims were said to have complained of being robbed under the Iganmu overhead bridge, vicinity of the National Art Theatre and Ijora-Apapa Road, which prompted the DPO to write the Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, for a massive raid.
The suspects were also said to be responsible for the various attacks on motorists at the National Art Theatre axis of the Lagos- Badagry Expressway. After the raid, the suspects were taken away in Black Maria provided by the task force.
