EFCC Arrests Suspect for Tampering With Evidence

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a suspected criminal for attempting to wipe off the registered name of an illegal oil vessel earlier arrested by the EFCC.

The suspect, Prince Chima Amadi, was arrested on Monday December 19 along Eagle Island in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while trying to wipe off  the name: H.W. BECHMAN, from an oil tanker, earlier arrested by the EFCC. The illegal oil vessel was caught while  off-loading products into a Tank Farm housed in the premises of NEPAS Limited in the Iwofe area of Port Harcourt.

Amadi, desperate to destroy the evidence offered by the registered name of the vessel attempted to bribe operatives of the EFCC but was rebuffed. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody until investigations are concluded on the matter.

It would be recalled that the EFCC on Wednesday, November 30, 2016
arrested an oil vessel off-loading products suspected to be Automated Gas Oil, AGO, along Eagle Island in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The vessel: H.W. BECHMAN, an oil tanker, with Registration Number: 4014030, was the first- ever oil vessel interception made by the EFCC since its reception.
