A suspected armed robber, who was supposed to be
worried that he had been arrested by policemen attached to the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Akure, Ondo State Police Command, appears to be
angrier at his partner in crime for disappearing with their loot than his
present detention.
The suspect, Falade Adesanmi, fuming, said his
partner, Tosin Adeleke, sold the car they snatched for N650, 000 to one Gbenga
Ogunlade and since then, disappeared into thin air.
Adesanmi, who confessed to have jointly robbed the car from its owner at gun point, with Adeleke, said it was not up to two months he started robbing.

He said that he embraced robbery after his business
collapsed and his friend Adeleke pressurised him to join.
According to Adesanmi, he had not made much money from robbery before he was arrested by the police.

According to him, the Toyota Camry car, which was
now the bone of contention between him and friend, was snatched at Ijoka area
in Akure, the state capital. The car is marked AAA59DM. He said that his
partner in crime; Adeleke took the car and sold it without giving him his share
of the money.
Adesanmi said: “I went with my friends to rob at Ijoka. The
vehicle we stole was taken away by my friend to Oshogbo. He said the vehicle
did not get to Oshogbo; that it developed fault at Ilesa. He collected N650,
000 from Gbenga Ogunlade. Till date, I don’t know what he did with the money. I
started robbery two months ago. I’ve only participated in one operation. I went
into robbery because I was duped in my business. My friend told me that he
would introduce me to another business. I didn’t know he was talking about robbery.”
The buyer of the car, Ogunlade, confessed to have bought the car for N650, 000. He further said that he paid thrice to the seller.

Ogunlade however denied knowing that the car was a
stolen one.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, while speaking about the car snatchers, said the Toyota Camry car, belonged to one Mrs. Akomolafe Abiodun. The woman reported that her car was stolen, along with other items at Ijoka area of Akure.

Ibifuro-Harrison said detectives recovered the
vehicle at Oshogbo and later arrested Adesanmi and Ogunlade.
The police boss also said the command arrested a
three-man gang, which had been terrorising the people of Akure and its environs
in the last few weeks.
The three-man gang, according to Ibifuro-Harrison,
was led by a 23-year-old Samuel Ayodele.
It would be recalled that a three-man gang, some weeks back, attacked and killed three residents of Oke-Ogba and the Commandant of the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Idowu Oyewole, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in October.
Ibifuro-Harrison said that Ayodele was arrested after he and his gang members stormed the home of one Folashade Jayeoba, whom they robbed at gun point.
Ibifuro-Harrison explained that Ayodele and his men invaded the home of Jayeoba on September 29, 2016, carting away valuables.
She said: “The robbery suspects made away with a flat screen television and abducted the victim and her four children till the following day. They took the victim and her children to the Alagbaka branch of Keystone bank, where they forced her to withdraw N90, 000 from her account, with ATM, before they released her and her children. The incident was reported at the police station and our men immediately swung into action, leading to the arrest of Ayodele, who lives at Gaga area of Oke Aro in Akure. During interrogation, Ayodele confessed to the crime. When his house was searched, some of the victim's items were recovered."
Ibifuro-Harrison further disclosed that policemen were on the trail of other members of the gang, who were still at large.
Similarly, another set of a three-man gang of armed robbery suspects, which allegedly had been terrorising Ondo Town, were arrested.
The three suspects, Adeoye Segun, 20, Akeem Abdullahi, 21, and Adeoye Afeez, 22, were arrested around 4:00am while heading for an operation.
Ibifuro-Harrison said: “The suspects’ residences were searched and one locally made cut to size barrel gun, a live cartridge, two knives and half pack of inactivated MTN SIM Cards was recovered. On interrogation, one of the suspects, Segun, confessed to be a member of armed robbers that robbed one Cecilia Ayodele, of No 14, Palmgrove Street, in Ondo Town. The suspects dispossessed Mrs. Ayodele of her Toyota Yaris car, valued at N3m. The suspects led detectives to Lagos, where the car was recovered.”
