IGP gives cheques to deceased officers' wives, children



Inspector General  of Police  Mr  Ibrahim  Idris has assured policemen that their rights  will be protected by the Force.

  IGP Idris stated this on Wednesday during an event held at the Zone 2 police  Command Onikan  Lagos to mark the World  Human Rights  Day which holds every December  10th  
Assistant Inspector General of police in charge of Zone 2 Police  Command Onikan Lagos Mr  Kayode Aderanti who represented  the IGP at the event while consoling with  the family  members,  urged them  to take solace in God . 
He said "  It is the belief of the IGP that something must be done to uplift the spirit of the family  members  of the police men we lost.  The enormity of their service cannot be quantified and one of the succour is to give these amounts   to support those they left behind "
In a related development,  as part of activities  to mark the international human rights  day,  AIG Aderanti  presented certificates to policemen from the Zone who graduated  in the Course  6 Human rights training  organised by the Crime Victims Foundation CRIVIFON.
 Bar. Sarah  Unobe,  the Programme Officer of CRIViFON said " The graduates were trained on Chapter 4 of the1999 Constitution, the international human rights instruments which include the universal declaration on human rights, African charter on people's  and human rights, international  convention on civil and political rights.  The tenancy  law, child rights acts and child  rights law of lagos state.  In addition  to the domestic violence law of lagos state " . 
Mrs. Gloria Ebuji the Executive Director of CRIViFON used the event to condernm the killing  of policemen in the just concluded Rivers State  by election adding that every  police man has rights to be promoted and upheld.
