Six killed, 15 injured in Ibadan/Oyo auto crash


Six passengers were killed and 15others injured yesterday in an accident involving a Sokoto-bound commercial bus on the Ibadan/Oyo highway.
The accident happened at fiditi junction.
An eyewitness said the accident happened because of a burst tyre which made the bus to somersault. 
The bus left Lagos on its way to Sokoto.
The timely intervention of men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the police prevented more casualties that could have been recovered, as the passengers were seen lying on the highway, writhing in pains with multiple injuries.
They were immediately rushed to various hospitals.
The remains of the dead were deposited at the morgue of the state hospital, Oyo.
The acting medical officers in charge of the hospital, Dr Alayo Ayo, disclosed that sex of the passengers was confirmed dead, while 15 others sustained various injuries.
He said the 15 had crush injuries, rigged laceration, and flush avulsion.
“We have commenced adequate treatment for them, even though we are yet to see any of their relations. But we have been making contacts through their mobile phones, and we are optimistic that they will respond. Saving their lives is the most important” he said.
