Fayose joins Ekiti guber race

Fayose joins Ekiti guber race
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Ayodele Fayose, yesterday disclosed his readiness to dislodge Governor Kayode Fayemi via the 2014 election if given the governorship ticket by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  Fayose added that he would re-absorb the civil servants allegedly sacked by Fayemi-led administration if elected.
The ex-governor, who was impeached in a controversial circumstance in 2006, told the mammoth crowd who besieged the PDP state secretariat that he is now wiser than 10 years ago when he first became the state governor. Although the occasion was his official presentation of “Letter of Intention To Contest For The Position of Governor of Ekiti State in 2014,” he used the forum to made public some of the things he would do if elected”
He lambasted the Action Congress of Nigeria ( ACN) government, saying the PDP government under his leadership would conduct local government elections and allow democracy to thrive at the grassroots level instead of putting  caretaker committees in charge of local governments as it is case at present. He described the caretaker committees as an aberration in the running of the local government administration and promised to conduct council elections immediately he is sworn in on October16, 2014.
The event was attended by party supporters across all the 177 wards and 16 council areas, as well as the six states of the Southwest geo-political Zone. All the party supporters wore vests and ankara popularly called aso-ebi bearing the portrait of the former governor. Fayose’s letter of  intent addressed to the party chairman, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe,  was submitted to the State Working Committee, whose members were also present at the event.
The letter read: “This is to notify you of my intention to contest for the gubernatorial primary of our great party with the intention of becoming the gubernatorial candidate  and subsequently win the 2014  governorship election in Ekiti State”.
