Police arrest 10 for stripping Oba naked

Policemen attached to the Sango Ota area command, have arrested 10 suspected thugs, who beat up an Oba and stripped him naked.
The victim, identified as Oba Lateef Akanni, Oba of Ado-Odo, in Ado-Odo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspects were said to have been arrested today.
A police source said that the Oba, with his aids, was heading to a function at Ilaro, at about 9:30am on the fateful day, when the thugs waylaid and attacked them. They later allegedly stripped the Oba naked.
In the melee, Oba Akanni was said to have lost cash, valuables and his royal beads.
The Oba was also said to have an ongoing battle for the throne with some group of people. Though the matter concerning the leadership of the throne is already pending in court, but investigators believed that Akanni might have been attacked by some of those fighting over the throne with him.
At least 10 persons had been arrested from opposition parties.
It was further gathered that the area commander of Sango-Ota Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr. Titilayo Kayode, received a distress call to the effect that the Akanni was under attack and had immediately sent a team of policemen to rescue him. But for the quick intervention of the police, Akanni might have been killed, said a police source.
