Redeemer university undergraduate denies killing bank staff *as police recover victim’s BB phone

The last has not been heard about a Lagos State based banker, Adindu Ohamara, who was found in a pool of his blood on April 19, 2013, in his room at the Bariga area of the state.
Homicide detectives of the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos who had been working round the clock to get the killers of Adindu, arrested an undergraduate of the Redeemer’s University in Ogun State in connection with the murder sometimes last week.
A source stated that even though the police recently go a link to the undergraduate as a prime suspect, efforts to get the truth out of the 18 years old undergraduate got complicated as the teenager who is said to be a 200 level student in the institution still insisted he knew nothing about the murder.
A source who gave the name of the suspect as Tope said that although Tope denied having anything to do with the murder but a record in the institution showed that he was not in school the day Adindu was killed. Tope was said to have left the institution premises without a pass which was usually given to legitimate student of the institution who intended leaving the school premises.
It was further gathered that the deceased who was alleged to be gay partner to the suspect was stabbed several times after he told the suspect that he was getting married in few weeks time.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, police spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide stated that the suspect was picked by detectives after an uncle of the deceased discovered that someone was using his late nephew’s Blackberry phone to tweet and alerted police.
Braide added that the suspect who although, still denied g any connection to the crime used the twitter account of the deceased to send post on twitter.
The suspect was later picked by policemen.
On getting to the State Criminal Investigation Department Panti, Yaba, those who lived in the flat with the deceased, who had been earlier picked in connection with the murder, fingered the undergraduate as the stranger who came in with the deceased on the fateful night of the incident.
Braide added that though sex with same sex partner was a crime in Nigeria, it was however not the case the police were investigating.
She said she could not confirm whether the victim and suspect were gay and possibly lovers.
She said: “Police are trying to unravel the mystery behind the killing of the victim. We want to know why the deceased was killed and who killed him.”
She added that investigation was still on.
