The gang of robbers who shot dead Mr. Sesan Ogunro, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Eminent Communications, may have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State.
The late Ogunro is said to be the father of Sesan Ogunro junior, a musical video director. Ogunro junior has directed among others, Jayajaye by Wizkid, Don’t tell me nonsense by D’bang.
According to police report, at the wee hours of Tuesday, a six-man-gang of robbers attacked a man and his wife, who were driving in two separate cars, at the Marwa Garden, Ikeja.
The husband was shot dead after he refused to hand over his car key. Rather than hand over the keys, the man had angrily flung it into the gutters.
The robbers shot the man and made away with the Toyota Yaris of his wife, who had been driving behind him before the attack.
The story of one of the robbers who had just being arrested tallies with the attack on the Ogunros’.  The deceased, who many people had described as one of the top men in the advertising industry, was said to have been returning from a Christmas with his family when the robbers attacked.
Some of the robbers had been identified as Jonathan Nsirim, Ezekiel Anthony, Abiodun, Amuda and Samuel.
The gang was busted after SARS arrested a prostitute, who happened to be the lover of Nsirim. The lady took police to where the suspect was staying and he was arrested.
A Toyota Halla found in his compound and recovered from him. He however denied that the car belonged to him. He said that it belonged to another robber, identified as ‘fine money.’ Apparently, Fine money was supposed to take the car to Imo State, but it developed fault.
Police however discovered on the two side doors, neatly packed and concealed four AK47rifles, cut to size and six magazines, fully loaded.
Police investigations have revealed that Nsirim was among the gang of robbers which attacked Access Bank at Ayobo, attacked a Bureau De Change and killed three policemen during the Access bank operation.
The gang had also robbed at Alaba International market, where they killed a woman and made away with N10 million, being carried to a branch of a commercial bank in the market. The bandits attacked that day on two motorbikes.
Nsirim further said: “I also took part in a failed operation at computer village, where two persons were killed.”
He recalled how they killed Sesan Ogunro. He said: “At Marwa Garden, we attempted to snatch a Toyota Yaris from a man who was driving with his wife. They were in two different vehicles. We had to kill the man because he threw the keys into the gutter. We sold the Toyota for N500, 000, but the buyer had only paid N300, 000. He disappeared with the balance before police arrested me. The person we sold the car to, is one Alhaji.”
Police said the name of the Alhaji would not be mentioned for security reasons and ongoing investigations.
Nsirim was part of the gang that attacked the Murtala International Airport.
According to him, on that operation, Fine money was their leader. There was also a soldier who happened to be their second in command. He said that a man, based in South Africa, is also a member of the gang.
Sesan Ogunro was buried today.
