Mob sets man on fire for shooting landlord’s daughter

The Ekiti State Police Command has launched investigation into the brutal murder of a man by some angry youths in Ise Ekiti in Ise Orun Local Government of the state. The youths were said to have pounced and set the man on fire because he allegedly shot his landlord’s daughter to death.
The problem snowballed after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ise Police Station, attempted to rescue the suspect, later identified as Austin. The angry mob had also descended on the DPO.
The DPO was repeatedly hit on the head by the youths for attempting to rescue the Austin before he was killed. Some of the angry youths claimed that the Austin, 30, shot his landlord’s daughter right in front of her father’s building.
Before Austin was killed, he was dragged to the palace of the King of Ise Ekiti, Oba Adetunji Ajayi, in an attempt to save Austin's life, but the youths allegedly overpowered the palace guards, dragged Austin to the town's motor park and set on fire. They stood and watched him burnt to death.
The corpse of the slain girl and that of Austin, have been deposited at a mortuary in the town by the police. The injured DPO has been taken to the hospital.
Nobody has been able to state reasons why Austin supposedly shot and killed his landlord’s daughter and no guns had been recovered.
