Police arraign man for theft

The police have arraigned a 28-year-old man, Taofeek Arileowa, before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a laptop belonging to Gopalex Limited.
The defendant was said to have taken the laptop to an unknown destination, where he erased the data content on the gadget without the consent of the company.

The incident happened on 11 September, 2014.
Taofeek was arraigned on Wednesday on three counts of theft.
The charges reads in part, “That you, Taofeek Arilewola, on September 11, 2014 at about 1500hrs on Nana Okuribido Street, Ismail Estate, Maryland, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did steal one Acer Laptop valued N65,000, property of Gopalex Limited, represented by Benson Iduh, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 258 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His defence counsel, Melinda Adebambo, applied for his bail in liberal terms.
She said “I humbly apply for a favourable bail condition for the accused.”
The magistrate, A.O. Komolafe, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till November 19.
