Detectives
from the Lagos State Police Command have launched investigation into the setting
on fire of a young man identified as Bolatito Farook Kadara by an alleged mad
man, Badejo Adewale, in Surulere area of the metropolis.
The incident
was brought to the attention of the police by Adeola Kadara, a sister to the
deceased on January 9, at about 7:08am, living at No 13 Aiyeleto Street
Surulere .
Adeola, who
went to Surulere Police Station, reported that she received information that on
January 8, her brother Bolatito Farook Kadara was set ablaze at Hogan Bassey
Street Surulere and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital.
The Lagos
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, while reacting on
the matter, said: “Police detectives visited the scene and proceeded to
island hospital where the victim was seen recuperating. He made a
statement to the police and narrated how Badejo Adewale, who is mentally
deranged poured petrol on him and ignited it. Investigation was
extended to psychiatric hospital Yaba where the suspect is admitted. Efforts
made to interview him proved abortive as he could not utter a word.
Investigation is ongoing.”

deranged girl, Chinyere
Christopher, to psychiatric hospital for treatment. Elkana said that on January
8, at about 2:30pm, Apostle Samuel Sonaiki
of Celestial church, Cele bus stop, Itowolo Ikorodu road, reported at
Owode Onirin Police Station that a girl of about 22 years old was seen
misbehaving along Itowolo Ikorodu road.
“A team of
detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) visited the uncompleted
building where the girl was seen. She was taken to Neolife Hospital at Olakunle
Street, Thomas bus stop, Owode Onirin, for medical attention. In her lucid
period, she was able to give her name as Chinyere Christopher. She equally gave
details of her parents, who were contacted accordingly. She is confirmed to be
a psychiatric patient from Akure, Ondo State. She was eventually moved to Akure
for continuation of her psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation.”
