Husband, wife, son perish in fire

A 55-year-old Islamic cleric in Rajiyar Zaki area of Kano metropolis, Malam Habibu Abdulhamid Sokoto, with his wife, Malama Aisha Muhammed, 35 years and their 11-year-old son, Halifa, died in a fire that razed their house on Saturday night while sleeping.
An eyewitness said the fire disaster was caused by a water heater around 12am. The spark spread to  their three-bedroom apartment, trapping the family in one of the rooms before killing them.
The source disclosed that the family had run into their bathroom to escape from the inferno and had reportedly suffocated and eventually died.
