N4bn fraud: Audu in UK for medical treatment ..returns in Jan to face EFCC

Former Governor Abubakar Audu of Kogi State, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for his involvement in an alleged N4bn fraud, is currently in the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
An investigation by Saturday PUNCH shows that Audu will return to Nigeria in January to face the commission.
Our correspondent learnt that the embattled governor is being treated in a UK hospital for the injuries he sustained in a car accident that occurred when he was travelling to Jos, capital of Plateau State, in September.
One of the tyres of the car was said to have pulled off while in motion, leading to the crash.
A source close to the former governor said that contrary to insinuations, Audu would be back to face the anti-graft agency over the allegation of fraud levelled against him.
The source said, “It is not true that Audu has run away from Nigeria to overseas to escape arrest by EFCC. The truth is that he had a very bad accident in September and has been in a London hospital receiving treatment.
“He was in Nigeria for his daughter’s wedding and to receive a honorary doctorate degree from the Igbinedion University, Okada. After his treatment, he will be back in Nigeria by January to slug it out with EFCC. The matter has been on for the past five years and the EFCC is just being funny.”
