Christmas: How We Maintained Peace In Suleja – Police

The commissioner of police, Niger State, Mrs Desiree Nsirim has said that the police was proactive this year in Suleja and would not relent in the effort to continue to ensure  security in the area and other parts of the state.
Nsirim in joint news conference with the Brigade commander of the 31 artillery Brigade Minna Brigadier General Chris Ilougha stated that the police was able to check any security breach in Suleja and other parts of the state with about 50 patrol vehicles.
She said that the police also deployed special armoured carriers  and sniffer dogs to strategic areas in Suleja.
The commissioner of police said that black spots in Suleja and in the state especially worship centres were put into close monitoring and more men were deployed to the areas to ensure proper coverage.
The police boss maintained that the effort would be doubled to ensure that the state celebrate the yuletide peacefully up to the new year and beyond saying that “ we  will replicate what we did during Christmas, people should go to their places of worship, nothing will happen, we have put in stringent measures” .
She explained that the decision for partial restriction of movement during Christmas was a proactive measure adopted by the Suleja Security council and that the decision was not that of police as the traditional councils were also instrumental to the partial restriction of vehicular movement.
