THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has vowed to bring to an end to oil theft and bunkering activities in the country, in the incoming year.
Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin, who made this known while addressing journalists, at the Corps headquarters in Abuja, said this would help to improve the country’s economy and make it more investor-friendly.
He said the management of NSCDC has reviewed the Corps’ activities in the outgoing year and resolved to work harder come next year, to stem the problem of oil theft and bunkering activities in the country.
He said: “We want to ensure that all those things we have not been able to achieve, we will achieve them in 2013. Part of our resolve is to see that we have a fast growing economy, devoid of oil theft, illegal bunkerings in this country.”
On the relationship of the Corps with other security agencies, Abolurin said that other security agencies have their mandate but work towards ensuring that the country is crime-free, adding that security is a business for everyone.
Abolurin said: “Smooth relationship, synergy, partnership, are globally the secret of security agencies whenever they are trying achieve a secure society, and so all of us should work together, live together and to see ourselves having complementary roles to play without mixed feeling.”
Dr. Abolurin noted further that over 120 of his men have been deployed across the country to work with other securities agencies, to secure both the cities, infrastructures in and around the cities, during this yuletide and the New Year celebrations.
He called on all Nigerians to give support to the transformation agenda of the present government by thinking up ideas that would lead to the development of the country, stressing that the country could only be transformed if all Nigerians join hands with government and allow peace to reign.
