The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, on Tuesday, arrested one Tope Akinmoladun in Gwagwalada for allegedly defrauding the public through a firm, ‘’Staprotech Promotions Limited.’’
LEADERSHIP correspondent was at the FCT command when the men of the CID brought Akinmoladun from Gwagwalada by 5.20 pm on that Christmas day.
Akinmoladun and his co-travellers had claimed to be into private public partnership (PPP) with the federal government to construct two blocks of 12 classrooms for primary and secondary schools in 774 local government councils in the country.
Four members of staff of Akinmoladun’s firm had earlier been picked up from their office located in the Lagos State liaison office building in Abuja by the Central Area police but were subsequently transferred to the FCT command on December 14, 2012 for proper investigation.
The four suspects earlier arrested and who are still in detention at the FCT command are Lawrence Adeyehinum (the firm’s public relations officer), Joy Sheidu, Amen Musa and Anaja Yinusa.
Akinmoladun had not only refused arrest but threatened to deal with men of the CID that had invited him through phone to report to their office over the allegations brought against him by seven people among the lot that he allegedly defrauded.
Akinmoladun’s firm had on January 9, 2012 made internet advertising and in some dailies calling for tender to construct two blocks of 12 classrooms of model primary and secondary schools. The adverts carried the federal government’s coat of arms.
The adverts read in parts: “our firm , an educational consulting firm is constructing primary and secondary schools for indigent and vulnerable children in Nigeria before the year 2015.
‘’We hereby invite tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors preferably indigenes of the local government to bid for the two blocks of 12 classrooms each in the 774 LGAs.”
