BARELY twenty-four hours after some gunmen
suspected to be Boko Haram sects ambushed motorists in Borno villages
of Gwoza- Firgi- Ngurosoya federal highway, which led to the death of
five passengers including another person who was on his way to Maiduguri
to attend his brother’s wedding, another set of terrorists ambushed
motorists along the troubled Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu Road on Monday
morning, where they burnt down two trucks loaded with oranges and a
Toyota hilux vehicle, after abducting the drivers to an unknown
destination.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the incident took place a few kilometres away from Limanti/Bullabulin Ngarwa communities, where series of deadly road attacks masterminded by Boko Haram sects took place in recent times.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, a motorist/driver who escaped the attack, Mallam Musa Usman, told our correspondent in an interview that the incident occurred at about 9am on Monday, when some group of terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram in the process of crossing over the highway from their camps in Sambisa Game Forests met with some motorists on the road, barricaded them, set ablaze all the three vehicles including a truck loaded with oranges from Benue State.
Usman added that immediately he reached the scene, a few minutes after the attack, he saw the terrorists forcibly ordering the abducted drivers into their vehicles, and therefore had to make a u-turn of his vehicle back to Maiduguri.
