Teenager abducts cousin for N50,000 ransom

Teenager abducts cousin for N50,000 ransomIn Kaduna, the Kaduna State capital, the trio of Abba Ali, Nasir Abubakar and Mohammed Danlami are presently in police custody over their alleged role in the kidnapping and death of Amir Ali; identified as a cousin to the prime suspect.
Saturday Newswatch gathered that the seven-year old boy lost his life from suffocation, having been tied to an object in an uncompleted building at Ungwa Dosu area of the city.
The 18-year-old Albba was the architect of the plot by asking the unsuspecting cousin to accompany him to an undisclosed place, which, in the end, turned out to be his point of no return.
“He had briefed the other suspects about what he intended doing to extort N5, 000 from the father of the deceased. He even bought a new sim card, which he used to call his uncle and demand for the ransom,” a source said.
It was further learnt that distrust among the suspects was their albatross resulting in their eventual arrest. Abubakar was said to have accused Abba of a prank over the ransom. He, thus, put a call to the father of the deceased and disclosed the identity of the brain behind his son’s misfortune.
The worried father alerted the police who urged him to play along until the sim number was tracked and the suspects rounded up. Abba did not deny the allegation, neither did his friends.
They, however, could not explain how the deceased died. They said they had returned to their hideout where the boy was held only to find his lifeless body.
“They quickly dug the earth and buried the corpse to cover their track. But the corpse has been exhumed after they led the police to the spot,” the source further said.
Police Public Relations Officer of Kaduna State Command, Aminu Lawan, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident and the detention of the suspects, promising that the police would carry out a comprehensive investigation on the matter.
