The nightmare experienced by some students of Ladoke Akintola
University of Technology in Ogbomosho, may have come to an end with the
eventual arrest a suspected armed robber.
Saturday Newswatch gathered that Farayola Oladimeji, has unleashed
reign of terror on the harmless students on different occasions,
escaping with their valuables such as money, mobile phone and other
items.
However, his reign of terror was recently cut short when a tip off
gave him out and eventually landed him in police custody to account for
his escapades.
Justifying his life in the crime world, Oladimeji said his encounter
with an armed robber who snatched his new motorcycle was the catalyst
turning him also to a man of the underworld.
“What I do is to pose as a passenger and snatch the okada from the
operator when he takes me to an isolated place. I use a small gun to
threaten the operator. I don’t go out with any other person. I sold
parts of the two motorcycles for N30,000,” he said.
Oladimeji added that he used the gun to rob students of Ladoke Akintola Univeristy of Technology of their mobile phones.
“I have so far snatched four motorcycles before I was arrested.”
Police Public Relations Officer of Oyo State Command, Olabisi
Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, described the
suspect as an incurable criminal. She said he had always been on the
list of the command’s wanted criminal.
“We have paraded him after our Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in
Ogbomosho had arrested him. We are going to do our job as usual and
getting to the root of the matter after which we would charge him to
court,” the PPRO said.
