A 28-year-old man, Yeku Kehinde, has been
arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, for
allegedly stealing N2m belonging to Skye Bank Plc.
The police said the incident happened at Oke Arin branch of the bank, in the Lagos Island area of the state.
According to the investigating police
officer, Woman Inspector Dorcas Dangabi, the defendant committed the
theft on March 8, and 13, 2012.
The one count charge read, “That you,
Yeku Kehinde, on the 8th and 13th March, 2012 at about 1pm at Oke Arin
Brach of Skye Bank, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did steal
the sum of N2,000,500 property of Skye Bank Plc.”
The police prosecutor, Inspector I.
Okeke, said the offence was punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal
Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
His defence counsel asked for his bail in liberal terms.
The magistrate, Mrs Y.R Pinheiro, admitted him to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till January 31, 2014.
