A beggar, Mrs. Chinagoro Uwenke, yesterday told officials of the
Lagos State Task Force on Special Offences and Environment said she
ventured into begging when she realised that it was a lucrative
business.
Uwenke, who was arrested with her 11-year-old son, withdrew the boy
from school and bandaged his leg and poured Gentian Violet (GV) on the
leg.
She would then ask the boy to lie down on this street helplessly to
deceive passers-by and motorists by soliciting for financial assistance
daily.
Uwenke, who hails from Abia State, said she made N3,500 to N5,000 on a
daily basis. She said: “I brought my son, Sunny Uwenke, 11 years old,
to Lagos five years ago to beg for alms while the remaining five
children are at Ata town in Abia State with their father.”
Uwenke added that she and her son were staying at Olokodana near Ijora- Olopa area at Oyingbo.https://newtelegraphonline.com/son-make-n5000-daily-says-beggar/
