Police recover pistol, assorted mobile phones from passengers



Policemen attached to the Abbatoir Police Station have arrested two passengers for being in possession of a pistol, laptop and six assorted mobile phones at the Abbatoir area of Agege, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo Badmus, confirming the arrest, said the suspects were arrested at about 6:30am by policemen from Abbatoir Police Station on Saturday.
They were arrested after a patrol team, intercepted a commercial bus. The driver was said to have complained about the two suspects, who had been quite unruly.
The patrol team ordered the two suspects, identified as Moses Fashade and Toheeb Amasaku, to step down for a search.
When they were searched, police recovered one locally made pistol with two live cartridges, one laptop, six assorted mobile phones and a sum of N8, 500:00.
Dolapo said: “Operatives from Abbatoir Police Station, while on patrol, intercepted a commercial bus. The driver identified himself as Moruf Olayinka. While they were being questioned, the bus driver   complained that some boys, who boarded his vehicle at Salolo bus stop, Meran, were conducting themselves in an unruly manner. The boys were later identified as one Moses Fashade and Toheeb Amasaku.  The boys were searched and one locally made pistol with two live cartridges, one laptop, six assorted mobile phones and the sum of N8, 500:00k were recovered from them. They were immediately arrested; while investigation has commenced to ascertain their mission and purpose of carrying the firearm. They are currently charged for unlawful possession. The command will continue to be on the trail of criminals in the state. The command will not allow criminals to perpetrate their nefarious activities in the state.”
