Gen Oluwole Rotimi’s wife kidnapped in Ibadan

The wife of former military governor of old Western State, Brigadier-General Oluwole Rotimi, was on Monday evening abducted by unknown gunmen from the premises of her haulage company, AOP Logistics Limited, at Kilometre 4, New Ife Expressway Road, Ibadan.
The woman, Mrs Titilayo Enitan Rotimi, was reportedly being driven out of the company premises by her driver in a black Mercedes Benz  Sport Utility Vehicle at about 7.00 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that as the woman’s driver was driving out, a green Nissan Primera car came from outside the company and blocked the vehicle at the gate.
Two of the occupants of the Primera car reportedly came out and pointed guns at the driver, while Mrs Rotimi was ordered out of the vehicle.
She was thereafter bundled into the Primera car and driven away while the security men, workers and traders around the premises looked on helplessly.
The driver is currently being detained by the police on suspicion.
Reports had it that the abducted woman was owing her staffers three months’ salary and when they protested, some of them were sacked.
Nigerian Tribune also gathered that the abductors were yet to make contact with their victim’s family as of the time of filing this report.
Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, Mr Ayodele Lanade, said that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku for further action.
He added that detectives in mufti had been posted out on surveillance patrol to receive information that could help in rescuing the kidnapped woman.
At the Ikolaba residence of the Rotimis, the place was deserted when our reporter visited the place yesterday. Those found in the compound looked troubled.
One of the staffers of the retired general told our correspondent that “Baba is not around, he has gone abroad and he had instructed us not to talk about the incident to anybody.”
