Impeachment: I was not offered N20m incentive —Nasarawa lawmaker

THE minority leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Adamu Maikatako, on Wednesday, denied allegations that he was offered N20 million and two new cars to join impeachment move against Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Maikatako, who represents Lafia Central state constituency on the ticket of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), debunked the allegations in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in his office in Lafia, the state capital.
He attributed the insinuation to the handiwork of political enemies, who were determined to dent his political image, saying whoever with evidence should adduce it.
“This is a baseless allegation. I know my role in the assembly. So, usually when any sensitive issue comes to the assembly, the majority leader will initiate the motion and I will second it.
“So, what people were saying that I have been bought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with N20 million and two cars to support the impeachment of the governor is baseless,” he added.
The lawmaker added that it was only during the deliberation that he could defend the ideals of his party, not by refusing to second a motion which was part of his duty as a minority leader.
It will be recalled that the state House of Assembly, penultimate Friday, served Governor Al-Makura one week impeachment notice, over insecurity in the state.
